Ienasescu Adinita

83 years old,

“My life is a novel” says Adiniţa and starts crying. Through her sighs, she tells us about the tragic parting with her only daughter. From hereon all her troubles start. Finally, she resigns and says that all her tears have run dry. She is grateful to all the people who worked at building “Bethany House” in Haţeg. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have had a place to live.

Adiniţa never thought, even for a moment, that her daughter might pass away before her. She raised her child together with her husband and helped her throughout university to receive a Literature and Language degree. Her daughter taught French and Romanian language. Because her daughter could not have children, Adiniţa encouraged her to adopt a baby girl. This happened 21 years ago, when a student from Craiova came to the Hateg Maternity to give birth. She was willing to give her child for adoption, the baby being taken by Adiniţa’s daughter. Adiniţa felt responsible and considered she must help her daughter raise her granddaughter, so she moved in with her permanently, right after the loss of her husband. “I thought it is better to live with my child rather than living alone. I sold my house in Hateg and I invested in fixing up the house in Techirghiol, where my daughter used to live. I never thought this misfortune would happen. Three years have passed ever since, but even now I feel the pain in my soul. Before dying, my daughter warned me that I couldn’t live with my son-in-law and my granddaughter, because we are not blood related, but I didn’t believe it. First, they moved me in a summer kitchen, and after all, they kicked me out of the house. Let God talk to them.”

Adiniţa’s help came from the Church in Hateg, where she was a member for a few years. She was the first who asked for admission in “Bethany House”, because she had nowhere else to live. Until the house was opened, Adiniţa lived with the brothers and sisters in Hateg. “I didn’t know I will be left alone. I thank God that he looked after me. I have nothing missing here in Hateg. My family is here. I thank God for every grain of sand that was put in Bethany House and for all the brothers who gave their money so that we, the old people, would have a house.”
