Viaţa d-nei Octavia s-a schimbat o dată cu pierderea casei in care a locuit zeci de ani. Legislaţia in vigoare le-a permis foştilor proprietari ai imobilului să intre din nou in posesia lui, iar familia Nicolescu a fost evacuată şi mutată intr-un apartament cu o cameră, intr-o curte comună, şi care nu a fost prevăzut cu baie sau alte dependinţe. Văzandu-se dintr-o dată fără agoniseala de o viaţă, soţul d-nei Octavia a suferit un atac de cord şi şi-a pierdut viaţa. Rămasă singură, cu patru copii, şi d-na Octavia s-a imbolnăvit. Mai mult, copiii au preferat să pribegească pe străzile Timişoarei şi nu se mai ingrijesc de cea care le-a dat viaţă.
Singurul sprijin al d-nei Octavia a rămas o vecină, care incearcă pe cat posibil să-i aline suferinţa. O mai vizitează şi o ajută la micile treburi gospodăreşti, intrucat d-na Octavia este paralizată. ”Imi este tare greu să merg şi pană la toaletă, că este in curte şi nu unde locuiesc eu. Nici nu mai pot să mă spăl singură că nu pot să mă mişc. De curăţenie nici nu pot să mai spun. Nu pot să fac mai nimic. Imi este tare greu”.
Dorinţa ei cea mai mare este să-şi vadă copiii pe care nu-i inţelege de ce au părăsit-o. ”Chiar nu ştiu cu ce am greşit de nu mai vin copiii la mine. Nici nu ştiu ce ar trebui să fac. Uneori mă gandesc că poate mi-ar fi mai bine la un azil de bătrani, dar mă gandesc că poate trec copiii pe acasă şi nu ştiu unde să mă caute. inainte de a-mi lua casa, aveam linişte, aveam soţ, aveam copii, acum mi-au luat tot: şi copii, şi casă şi soţ”.
Singurul ajutor al d-nei Octavia il reprezintă ”Mana” oferită zilnic de Asociaţia Evanghelistică şi de Caritate ”Isus Speranţa Romaniei”, fără de care nu ar putea să supravieţuiască.
Her life changed once she lost the house where she had been living for many years. The legislation allowed the former house owners to receive back the property, and Nicolescu family had been evicted and moved in one room apartment, in an immobile with other small apartments. This apartment did not have bathroom or other outbuildings. In this terrible situation, Mrs. Nicolescu’s husband suffer a heart attack and died. She got ill very bad, because she was on her own with four children to be raised. More, her children preffered to walk away on the streets of Timisoara and did not want to take care anymore of their mother.
A neighbor of Mrs. Nicolescu tries to help her as much as possible. She visits and helps her with small chores around house, because Mrs. Nicolescu got paralized. ”It is difficult to get to toilet, because it is outside my house. I can not even wash myself because of my disease. I can not do almost anything”.
Her greatest desire is to see her children because she does not understand why they left her. ”I don’t know what I did wrong. I don’t know what to do. Sometimes I think I should go to an old people foster home, but I think my children would come back home and they would not find me. There was peace in our home before the eviction, I had a husband, children, but now they took me everything: husband, children and house”.
Her only help come through ”Manna” project with a hot meal everyday, from The Evangelistic and Charitable Association ”Jesus the Hope of Romania”.
