RAICU ADRIAN SI MARIA, 93 de ani, respectiv 94 de ani
Soţii Raicu sunt cei mai varstnici locatari ai Casei ”Betania” din Haţeg. Ei au ajuns la onorabila varstă de 93 şi 94 de ani, iar de un an şi şapte luni au fost internaţi la Casa ”Betania” din Haţeg. După ce au fost inşelaţi de nepoata lor, care le-a luat apartamentul, soţii Raicu sunt multumiţi că au ajuns la Haţeg, iar singura lor dorinţă este să ajungă in veşnicii.
Greutăţile vieţii şi varsta şi-au lăsat amprenta asupra celor doi: ambii suferă de diferite afecţiuni pentru care iau zilnic tratament. Viaţa lor a fost relativ uşoară şi frumoasă pană in momentul in care s-au dat in intreţinerea unei nepoate. La inceput, nepoata a fost foarte preocupată de soarta celor doi, insă pe parcurs a demonstrat că interesul ei a fost doar să obţină apartamentul familiei Raicu şi nicidecum să le fie un sprijin la bătraneţe. ”Mult timp noi nu am ştiut că nepoata a făcut act de vanzare-cumpărare pe apartamentul nostru, fără să se oblige să ne intreţină. Ea ne-a pus să semnăm hartiile, dar noi am crezut că este altceva. Ne-am mutat la ea la casă şi ne-a pus să plătim mancarea, medicamentele, lemnele de foc. Nu a respectat nimic din ce era trecut in contract. Nu mă ajuta să aduc nici măcar o galeată de apă in casă. Dacă voiam să-mi spele rufele trebuia să o plătesc. Noi de fapt am acceptat să ne mutam la ea, fiindcă eram prea slăbită şi nu mai făceam faţă singură la treburile gospodăreşti. Pană la urma tot ea ne-a scos afară şi ne-a acuzat că i-am otrăvit căţeaua. Nu era adevărat, dar a căutat motiv să scape de noi. Inainte de asta a vrut să ne lase să murim şi ne-a ameninţat de multe ori cu moartea”, ne-a spus Maria Raicu.
Văzandu-se pe străzi şi fără agoniseala de-o viaţă, soţii Raicu au apelat la ajutorul pastorului din cadrul bisericii din localitate, care i-a indrumat spre Casa ”Betania” din Haţeg. Aici şi-au adus o parte din lucrurile recuperate de la nepoată şi au ţinut neapărat să şi le amenajeze in noua cameră. De cand sunt la Haţeg au acceptat să-l primească pe Domnul Isus in viaţa lor ca Domn şi Mantuitor şi au incheiat legămant in apa botezului. ”Noi suntem căsătoriţi de 47 de ani şi am muncit mult ca să avem ceva la bătraneţe. Sunt lucrurile noastre. Ne-am obişnuit tare bine aici. Avem noi regulile noastre. In fiecare zi, dimineaţa şi la ora patru după-masa servim cafeaua. Ce să mai aşteptăm la anii noştri? Avem mormantul pregătit şi aşteptăm să plecăm in veşnicii”.
93 and 94 years old,
The Raicu husbands are the eldest inhabitants of “Bethany House” in Haţeg. They reached the honorable age of 93 and 94 years old and for one year and seven months they have been housed in “Bethany House”. After they have been tricked by their niece, who took their apartment, the Raicu husbands are pleased that they ended up in Haţeg, and their only wish is to end up in the after life.
The difficulties of life and age left their marks on the two of them: they both suffer of different illnesses for which they have to take a daily treatment. Both of their lives have been relatively easy and beautiful until the moment they gave themselves for care to one of their nieces. In the beginning, the niece was very concerned for the fate of the two elders, but along the way she showed that her interest was to obtain the apartment and not to be a support for the Raicu family in their old age. “For a long time we did not know that out niece made a sale-purchase contract on our apartment, without any obligation to support us. She made us sign the papers and we thought it was something else. We moved at her house and she made us pay our food, medications, fire wood. She didn’t respect any cause of the contract we signed. She didn’t even help me get a bucket of water inside. If I wanted her to wash my clothes, I had to pay her. We agreed to move to her place because I was too weakened and I couldn’t handle the house chores by myself. In the end, she threw us out and accused us of poisoning her dog. It wasn’t true, but she searched for a reason to get rid of us. Before this happened, she wanted to let us die and threatened to kill us many times” Maria Raicu told us.
Finding themselves on the street and without their life’s gaining, the Raicu husbands looked for help at the pastor in the local church, who led them to “Bethany House” in Haţeg. Here they brought some of the things they recovered from their niece and they wanted to arrange their new room with them. Ever since they have been in Haţeg they accepted to receive Jesus in their life as their Lord and Savior and they accomplished their bond in the baptizing water. “We have been married for 47 years now and worked hard so that we can have something when we would be old. These are our things. We got used very well over here. We have our rules. Every day, in the morning and at four o’clock in the afternoon we drink out coffees. What more should we expect at our age? We have out grave ready and we are awaiting to depart in the after life.”
