Din luna decembrie a anului 2011, Centrul “Fraţii lui Onisim” a devenit cămin pentru încă trei fraţii: Berta, Luca şi Alexandru. La cei 11 ani ai săi, Berta, a preluat oarecum responsabilitatea mamei. Îşi protejează frăţiorii mai mici: Luca de 10 ani şi Alexandru de 8 ani, iar ori de câte ori este nevoie, pledează cauza fraţilor ei. Fiind mai mare, are mai multe amintiri despre părinţii ei. Cu tristeţe şi nostalgie povesteşte despre cea care i-a dat viaţă. Era tânără, frumoasă…A fost nevoită să plece să muncească în străinătate, iar pe cei trei copii i-a lăsat în grija unei mătuşi. Necazul micuţilor a fost că nici mătuşa nu avea resurse financiare pentru creşterea nepoţilor. Mai mult, şi mătuşa lor are copii, ceea ce a determinat-o să apeleze la Direcţia pentru Protecţia Copilului Timiş unde a solicitat să fie preluaţi cei trei nepoţi. În urma unei anchete sociale întreprinsă de asistenţii sociali, aceştia au hotărât ca cei trei fraţi să ajungă în grija statului român care se va ocupa de nevoile micuţilor. Despre tată lor, Berta ştie că este la închisoare… Ajutorul lor a venit până la urmă de la Asociaţia „Isus Speranţa României” (ISR). Având deja patru copiii preluaţi de la Direcţia pentru Protecţia copilului Timiş, ISR-ul a decis să dezvolte proiectul în care erau implicaţi aceşti micuţi şi să suplimenteze numărul lor. Astfel au ajuns în noua familie a ISR-ului Berta, Luca şi Alexandru, timizi la început, până s-au acomodat cu noua familie, dar fericiţi că sunt într-un mediu familial în care beneficiază de afecţiune, îngrijire şi educaţie. „Acasă la noi nu erau camerele aşa de frumoase. Era mizerie, frig şi nu aveam ce să mâncăm”, spune Berta. Toţi copiii sunt înscriși la școală unde le place foarte mult. După-amiaza, Berta, Luca şi Alexandru se reîntorc la Centrul „Fraţii lui Onisim”, dornici să-şi întâlnească ceilalţi „fraţi” împreună cu care se bucură de grija şi dragostea „părinţilor”, Ramona şi Lucian Igna. Aceştia se joacă împreună cu copilaşii şi se străduiesc să le ofere ceea ce le lipseşte micuţilor: o familie adevărată.
Since December 2011, the Onesimus Brothers Home has really become home for three more siblings: Berta, Luca and Alexandru. At only six years of age, Berta has kind of taken on the responsibilities of a mother. She does a great job at protecting her younger brothers: Luca, who is five and Alexandru, who is four. She “pleads their case” asmany times as needed. Since she is the older one, she has many memories of her parents. She is sad and nostalgic when she reminisces about her mother: “she was young and beautiful… ” The mother had to leave the country and get a job abroad and she left the three children with a relative, an aunt. The trouble for the little ones was that the aunt didn’t really have enough money to raise them. Moreover, she had children of her own and she had to resort to Child Protection Services, asking the authorities to take the three children in. A social worker completed a report and the children ended up in the care of the Romanian state. As far as their father is concerned, all Berta knows is that he is in jail… The help for them came eventually from JHOR. The organization had already taken into care four smaller children and decided to develop the project and bring more children in. This is how Berta, Luca and Alexandru came to be a part of the JHOR family. They were really shy at the beginning but they grew accustomed to the people and the environment and now are happy to be in such a wonderful place, where they get affection, care and education. “Back where we lived, the rooms were not so beautiful. They were dirty and we were always cold and hungry,” says Berta. All of them go to kindergarted and they like it a lot. Berta has a sponsor that pays for her to go to a kindergarten where she learns English; her brothers go to a different place. Every afternoon they come back home, at OBH, eager and happy to meet their other “brothers and sisters” with whom they share the care and the love of their parents, Andrea and Ruben, who do their best to offer these little ones what they used to miss the most: a real family.
