De-a lungul timpului, Asociația Isus Speranța României a fost cămin pentru mulți copii, tineri, bătrâni abandonați de propria familie. Cazul lui Carmen Birda este unul mai special, fiind de altfel o pemieră pentru ISR. În cei 45 de ani ai săi, Carmen a avut de înfruntat numeroase greutăți, însă nu a renunțat niciodată la copilașii ei. Are patru, doi din prima casatorie care s-a terminat brusc și șocant o dată cu moartea soțului ei. Din cauza durerii, Carmen nu se vedea în stare să continue să lupte singură si să-și crească copiii, fără soțul ei. După un timp a cunoscut un alt bărbat cu care a decis să-și continue viața. Dumnezeu i-a dăruit alți doi copii, pe Marco și Elisabeta. Lucrurile păreau că s-au reașezat, dar destinul a făcut ca tatăl ultimilor doi copii să o părăsească. De atunci a ramas să se ocupe doar ea de copii. Erau bucuroși că sunt zilnic împreună. Nu i-a fost usor, dar greul cel mare a început o dată cu declanșarea bolii. Treburile zilnice au devenit din ce în ce mai greu de îndeplinit pentru Carmen. Boala de care suferă Carmen, scleroză multiplă, formă secundar progresivă și tetrapareză spastică, s-a agravat în ultima perioadă, iar ea nu se mai putea deplasa și avea nevoie de îngrijire permanentă. S-au gasit oameni de bine din diverse biserici ca să o susțină ocazional, însă în ultima perioadă, boala ei s-a agravat și avea nevoie de ajutor permanent. Locuiau toți trei într-un apartament de două camere, iar pentru o perioadă de timp au primit zilnic o masă caldă prin intermediul programului nostru, MANA. S-au căutat soluții pentru ca toți trei să fie în siguranță. Salvarea lor a fost Asociația ISR. A fost greu să se despartă de copiii săi cei mici, Marco, de 11 ani, și Elisabetta, de 8 ani, dar a avut încredere în Dumnezeu și în Asociația ISR. Când a încheiat legământ în apa botezului,acesta a fost oficiat de regretatul pastor, Petru Dugulescu. O cunoștea și pe Ligia Dugulescu, președintele asociației, ceea ce i-a dat încredere că atât ea, cât și copiii ei ajung într-un loc în care vor avea parte de dragoste, înțelegere și îngrijire De la sfârșitul anului2018, Carmen a fost inclusă în Casa Betania din Hațeg unde este supravegheată și ajutată de oameni speciali, iar tot din aceași zi, Marco și Elisabeta au fost primiți în marea familie a Casei Frații lui Onisim. Aici au găsit alți copilași care le vor fi frați pentru următoarea perioadă. Țin legătura cu mama lor, iar lunar o vizitează la Casa Betania din Hațeg, ca să-și aline dorul și unii și alții. Nu este ușor, dar fiecare dintre ei conștientizează că este cea mai bună și sigură variantă. Copiii merg la școală și sunt ajutați a teme, ceea ce pentru mama lor era extrem de dificil. Inițial, Marco nu credea că se va integra, fiindcă era foarte atașat de mama lui. Acum, atât Marco cât și Elisabeta, sunt încântați că au ajuns la Onisim: „Ne bucurăm foarte mult că suntem aici, deoarece ne simțim în siguranță. Ne simțim iubiți și protejați și ne place că aici ne sărbătorim zilele de naștere. Cel mai mult ne bucurăm că l-am cunoscut mai mult pe Dumnezeu. Suntem primiți cu multă căldură și primim o educație foarte bună.
Along the years, “Jesus the Hope of Romania” has been home to many children, young people and elderly men and women abandoned by their own families. Carmen Birda’s case is a unique and very special one, a first-time event for JHOR. Carmen is 45 and all her life has consisted of nothing but hardships. But through it all, Carmen never gave her children away. She has four children: the two older ones are from her first marriage, which ended abruptly with her husband’s passing away. Because of the pain she was dealing with, Carmen realized that she would not be able to raise her two children by herself. After a while, she met another man with whom she decided to live her life, hoping that he would provide the support she so much needed. God gave her two more children, Marco and Elisabeta and things seemed to be getting back on the right track. But unfortunately, the father of her two younger children left them and she found herself alone with them once again. It was hard but they were so happy that that they were all together every day. However, things got much worse once her illness really set in. The simple daily chores were getting harder and harder to carry out. Carmen suffers from a terrible disease, multiple sclerosis, secondary progressive form and spastic tetraparesis. Different people from churches around Timisoara offered their help but eventually the illness has aggravated and she was no longer able to move and in need of permanent assistance. Carmen and her two children lived in a tworoom apartment and for a while they received a hot meal daily through JHOR’s Manna Program. Various people looked for solutions to their problem, solutions that would keep her but also her two children safe and well. JHOR was the answer! It was very difficult for Carmen to part with her children, Marco – 11 years old and Elisabeta – 8 years old, but she trusted God and JHOR. She was baptized by Peter Dugulescu and she had known Ligia Dugulescu for a long time This gave her the assurance she so muc needed and she felt that her children were moving to a good and safe place, where they would get attention, love and care they needed. At the end of 2018, Carmen was admitted to Bethany Home, in Hateg, where she has been really well looked after. On the same day, Marco and Elisabeta were received into the big Onesimus’ Brothers Family, where they found the children who would be their siblings for the next several years. They keep in touch with their mother and visit her once a month in Hateg. It is not easy being apart but all three of them realize that this is the best solution. The two children go to school and get help with their homework – which was a hard task for their mother. At first, Marco didn’t think he would like it here, because he was so attached to his mother. But now they’re both so happy to be at Onesimus: “We are really glad to be here because we feel safe. We are loved and protected and we get to celebrate our birthdays. We are also happy because we can get to know God better. We received such a warm welcome and we get a good education.
