„Cu Dumnezeu e bine…îl simt aproape…mă mângâie…Îl ştiu şi pe soţul fericit lângă Dumnezeu…ştiu că e la Isus şi la fata noastră. Dacă-aş fii tristă, ar fi împotriva voii lui Dumnezeu”, îmi spune sora Livia, bucuroasă că ne-am reîntâlnit. De când a rămas singură, după moartea soţului ei, sora Livia se dedică mai mult studierii Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu. În fiecare miercuri şi duminică, o parte dintre cei ce locuiesc la Casa „Betania”, se întâlnesc în club la un timp de părtăşie în prezenţa lui Dumnezeu. „Ce ne opreşte să trăim ca fraţii? Este foarte important să-l cunoaştem pe Dumnezeu în mod real. Nu ştiu cum ar fi fost viaţa mea dacă nu aş fi învăţat să mă bazez pe Creatorul nostru…şi să nu mă încred doar în familia mea…”
Durerea cea mare a sorei Livia este că şi-a pierdut fiica, dar o dată cu trecerea timpului a înţeles că Dumnezeu este în control şi că El este cel care-i poartă de grijă. De îndată ce fiica lor s-a căsătorit, soţii Pişta s-au decis să-şi vândă casa, proprietate personală, ca să fie un sprijin pentru copilul lor. Soarta a făcut ca fiica lor să treacă în veşnicii, iar ginerele lor s-a recăsătorit la scurt timp după moartea soţiei şi le-a oferit bani ca să-şi cumpere o garsonieră, dar pe care i-au lăsat-o celuilalt copil al lor. Răspunsul lor la rugăciunea, de a avea un acoperiş în care să locuiască, a fost Casa “Betania” din Haţeg. Tot aici, Dumnezeu le-a îngăduit celor doi soţi să-şi serbeze Nunta de aur. Îşi aminteşte cu nostalgie de acel moment fumos pregătit de soţul ei. “Eu am uitat de aniversare, dar soţul meu nu. A mers în piaţă şi a venit cu un buchet de flori. Atunci mi-am amintit că e vorba de nunta de aur. Ne-am rugat împreună şi ne-am povestit din tinereţe şi de la nunta noastră. Am avut fanfară şi peste 150 de invitaţi. Întotdeauna am simţit că soţul meu m-a iubit mai mult. Am avut o viaţă frumoasă împreună”, ne-a spus doamna Pişta.
La finalul discuţiei noastre, a insistat să accentueze faptul că este deosebit de recunoscătoare faţă de personalul Casei “Betania” din Haţeg şi pentru cei care-i sprijină financiar în acest proiect. “Aici ne simţim mângâiaţi şi binecuvântaţi. Indiferent de problemele pe care le avem de trecut, sunt oameni care ne sar în ajutor. Se vede că oamenii de aici îl iubesc pe Dumnezeu. Dăm slavă lui Dumnezeu pentru acest popas aici. De asta avem nevoie: o vorbă bună şi o încurajare în aşteptarea venirii Mântuitorului. Oamenii spun că Dumnezeu m-a pedepsit că mi-a luat totul, dar Dumnezeu mi-a dat totul. Întristarea, care a fost după voia Lui, mi-a adus pocăinţa. Câteodată îmi vine să sar de bucurie la 74 de ani…Eram încărcată de amărăciune, dar îi dau slavă lui Dumnezeu că a fost cu mine în toată această perioadă şi că mă ţine în braţul Său!”.
“It is well with God… I feel Him close to me.. He gives me comfort… and I also know that my husband is happy with the Lord now. I know he went to be with Jesus and with our daughter. If I were sad, that would be against the will of God for me,” says Livia, happy to see me again. Since her husband passed away to be with the Lord, she has dedicated more time to studying the Word of God. Every Wednesday and Sunday, the residents from “Bethany Home” meet for a time of felowship in the presence of God. “What could stop us from living like brothers and sisters? It is very important to know God in a real way. I don’t know what my life would have been like, had I not learned to trust our Creator and… not lean solely on my family.”
The greatest suffering Livia has experienced was the loss of her daughter but, as time passed, she came to understand that God is in control and that He is the One that cares for her. As soon as their daughter got married, the Pistas decided to sell their own house, in order to help her and her husband financially. Shortly after, their daughter passed away and their son-in-law got remarried. He bought a one-room apartment for them but they decided to give it away to their other child. They started to pray for a roof over their heads and the answer was “Bethany Home.” It was here that the two of them celebrated their Gold Anniversary. She gets nostalgic as she remembers that moment, beautifully arranged by her husband. “I had forgotten all about the Anniversary but he hadn’t. He went out and came with a lovely bouquet of flowers. It was only then that I remembered it was the anniversary of our wedding. We prayed together and we shared memories from the wedding and from our first years together. At the wedding, we had a brass band and over 150 guests. I have always felt that my husband loved me a lot. We had a wonderful life together,” reminisces Mrs. Pista.
At the end of our conversation, she insisted on emphasizing how grateful she is to the staff from the “Bethany Home” from Hateg and also to the people supporting this project financially. “We feel comforted and blessed here. Regardless of the problems we faced in the past, here we found people who came to our rescue. It is so obvious that they love God. We praise God for the peaceful rest we found here. This is precisely what we needed: a good word and an encouragement while waiting for the coming of our Saviour. People used to say to me that God punished me by taking everything away from me but what I believe is that He gave me everything. My sadness was part of His plan to bring me repentance. Sometimes I feel like jumping with joy, even though I am seventy-four! I used to be bitter but I give praise to God for never giving up on me and for holding me in His arms!”
